Lorraine L. Miller

December 10, 1926 — November 7, 2021

Lorraine L. “Tootie” Miller, age 94, of Fairmont, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Fairmont. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont.

Lorraine was born December 10, 1926 to August C. and Selma (Rasche) Alm in Northrop, Minnesota. She was baptized in 1927 and confirmed on May 12, 1940.

She attended Fairmont Public Schools, graduating in 1944. On July 23, 1944 she married Raymond L. Miller at the St. Paul’s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Ceylon, Minnesota. They made their home in Fairmont.

She worked as a waitress at Lou’s Café in downtown Fairmont and worked retail at E.E. Koenigs Variety Store.  On Sunday afternoons she enjoyed working with her husband Ray at St. Clair’s Mens Wear.

Tootie enjoyed playing cards and shaking dice for quarters. She always had a joke ready for anyone she ran across, and she loved baking cookies for her grandsons and having the family over for supper. She also enjoyed her many flowers and sending out her special cheer cards to uplift friends and family with her words.

Her daughter Marla was her pride and joy, and Marla’s husband Kevin was very special to her. When Matthew and Brian came into the world, Tootie’s new role in life became Grandma. Her grandsons were a big part of her everyday life, and she shared so many special times with them.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Marla and husband Kevin Cole; grandchildren, Matthew (Zephanie) Cole, Brian Cole; special nephew, Steven Godden; sister in law, Arlene Alm; nephew in law, Russel Miller; and many nieces and nephews along with many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Miller; father, August “Gus” Alm; mother, Selma Green; brother, Gordon Alm; sister, Delores “Babe” (Godden) Weyer; brothers in law, Melvin Godden and Louis Weyer; and stepfather, Reo Green. “Just knowing that all of you are there makes it easier to go home.”

Any memorials given will be of the donor’s choice, for which we thank you.
