Kyle Lee Cole

February 23, 1981 — August 16, 2018

Kyle Lee Cole, age 37 of Truman, MN was called to the big lake in the sky on August 16, 2018. On this lake his friends can’t tell him that their fish are bigger… for now. He was surely met by his father, MelRoy, and uncle LeeRoy to assure him that those skills were not easily acquired. Through patience, the right reed tone, and jig you could surely find a way to fool a flock of Canadians or one Ol’ marble eye.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Zaharia Family Funeral Home in Truman. A Memorial service will be on Friday at 11 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman.   Zaharia Family Funeral Home in Truman is entrusted with arrangements. www.ZahariaFamilyFuneral.com

Kyle was born on February 23rd, 1981 in Fairmont, Minnesota. He was born to MelRoy Cole of Truman, MN and Janice McMullen of Madelia, MN. He was born the second youngest of Melroy’s children and made Janice a mom for the first time. As the first born of Janice, he certainly did his best in our childhood to make sure we knew it, and for a guy that stood 5’ 6” (as an adult) you would have thought that he was the one who made our “list” that had to be completed by the time mom came home. Kyle always had talents and abilities that were comparable to few in specific areas. He loved fishing, hunting, and would rarely forget to remind you the fish count or who pulled the trigger first on the birds. This was true unless of course nothing fell or the line broke. He created a competition in everything that could be done, in this excellence was born, and reflected in his ability to do the things that he truly loved. He was an amazing fisherman, and always loved being in the blind or deer stand. April 2, 2003, Kyle became a dad to his daughter Hannah, who has since grown to be a beautiful young lady.

In his adulthood, Kyle was a talent in the flooring business, beyond the ability to fool fish and hold still long enough for a deer to walk by, His ability to lay tile, hardwood, and do things related to such were something to be sought after. He will certainly be missed, as the fall rolls in, and the trees begin to change color we will all start to scout, and think about the fall bite, or where the geese might be. Our reaction will be to call Kyle and tell him what we have done, or where the bite is hot. He would still answer with where he was and how much better his birds were decoying, or how his fish bit. Mostly because it was more fun to make things up, rather than admitting to how awful we could really be at it. Either way this fall will have a void, there will not be a man to my right in the blind for the first time ever. As well as you, we will do what we can to keep his story alive and reminisce of when times were better. He will live on forever through the line ripping off a reel or the sight of a duck flying away. We love you Kyle, and if love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.

Kyle is survived by his mother and step-father, Janice (John) Keech; his daughter Hannah Morse; siblings, Kelly Cole, Michael Keech, Kerry Cole (Kasey Brown), Kenny (Diane) Cole, Karen (Jon) Helvig, Lanee (Joe) VanSant, Kurt (Elene) Cole; brother-in-law Ralph Stangler; his step brothers and sisters; Amy Keech (Steve Netske), Tommy (Jen) Keech, Jesse Keech, Sara Keech; friend, Sara Ertman;along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and some of the greatest friends a man could ask for on this ride that we call life.

Kyle is preceded in death by his father, MelRoy; sister, Lynn; cousins Christopher McMullen, Dustin Stripling, Eric McMullen and Jay Cole.
