Yvonne Ruth Teske

Yvonne Teske, formerly of Truman, age 90, died on March 30, 2018 at the Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, Chesapeake Virginia.  Funeral Service will be on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11 AM at the Zaharia Family Funeral Home in Truman, MN. Visitation will begin at 9 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Westford Cemetery, rural Truman.  Zaharia Family Funeral & Cremation is entrusted with arrangements. www.ZahariaFamilyFuneral.com Yvonne Ruth Birdsall was born on July 28, 1927 to Floyd and Valda (Davis) Birdsall in Mondamin, Iowa.  Yvonne attended school in Mondamin and graduated in 1944. She then attended Minnesota Bible College for one year.  Upon returning to Mondamin she worked in a local diner.  She later became a nanny of sorts to the Prather family, a former minister of Truman Church of Christ.  She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School while with them.  When the Prather's left the Truman area, Yvonne stayed and began working in Carrol's Market.  January 18, 1953, a Sunday afternoon, Yvonne and Carrol were united in marriage at the Truman Church of Christ Parsonage.  After marriage, they moved the store from the Vandrey building to the Truman Creamery.  Together, Carrol and Yvonne operated the store until retiring in the early 1990's. Yvonne was an active member of the Truman Church of Christ, singing in the choir, acting as the Missions treasurer, teaching Sunday School, and assisting with the youth group, God's Little Angels (GLA).  She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Yvonne is survived by her son, Richard Carrol (Connie Lynn (Vaughn)) Teske; daughter, Yolanda Kay Teske; grandchildren, Abigail Louise Teske, Anna Ruth Teske and Isaac Carrol Teske; brother-in-law, Donald Munhofen; sister-in-law, Cindy Long-Birdsall; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carrol K. Teske; siblings; Joseph Ross Birdsall, Ronald Floyd Birdsall, Verma Mae (Birdsall) Smith, Donna Rae (Birdsall) Munhofen and Gerald Duane Birdsall.
