Bill Grunig, age 92, of Truman, died on October 20, 2018 at Truman Senior Living surrounded by his family. Funeral Service will be on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 2 PM at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman with Rev. Nathan Rusert officiating. Visitation 2 hours prior to the service, beginning at noon. Willis Parnell Grunig was born February 7, 1926 in Selma Township to Jacob and Ethel (Geuther) Grunig. He is the youngest of 4 children. Their family was involved in farming. Bill married Eulalie Ann Ricard on January 19, 1948 and have spent the last 70 years loving each other and raising their family.
Bill worked at Union Pacific Railroad in St. James then turned his attention to farming. He farmed until 1985 when he began grading roads for Westford Township. Bill enjoyed fishing and traveling during the non-farming winter months. He enjoyed watching his children’s and grandchildren’s sports and school events. He also liked watching sports on television.
Bill was big on family tradition. He loved their chicken and fish frys and he will always be remembered for his quick “zingers”!
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Eulalie Ann Grunig; sons, Mickey (Kathy) Grunig and Terry (Betty) Grunig; grandchildren, Tara (Chad) Perre, Jared (Tina) Grunig, Brent Grunig and Daniel (Brittany) Grunig; Great-grandchildren, Abbey Perre, Jacob Perre, Amelia Grunig, Grace Grunig, Kellen Grunig, Keegan Grunig and Korbin Grunig; sisters-in-law, Delores Holz, Roxy Brummond and Marie Ricard; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Garland Grunig; sisters, LaDonna (Ron) Jenkins and Lois (Milford) Hoppe; parents-in-law, Hiram and Laura Ricard; brothers-in-law Duane Holz, Ernie Brummond and Dean Ricard; sister-in-law, Twila (Emmett) Anderson.
In Lieu of flowers, donations to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman are requested.
