Wilbert Albert Sieg

January 27, 1930 — January 18, 2021

Wilbert Sieg, age 90, of South Branch, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021 after a short stay at Heartland Senior Living in Truman. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be a private family funeral on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 10 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in South Branch with Rev. Matthew Rusert officiating. The service will be live streamed on the funeral home website. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Wilbert Albert Sieg was born on January 27, 1930 in Truman, the son of Paul and Hildegard (Firchau) Sieg. He attended school in South branch and Truman High School.  He entered the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1954. He met Catherine Elizabeth Davis and they were married In South Branch on February 4, 1956.  Their marriage was blessed with 7 children. Wilbert was a farmer of livestock and the agriculture of southern Minnesota.  He was active on the boards of several area groups, REA Board of Directors for 22 years, CTV, and the Truman Retirement Home Board.  He was active in his church and the Lewisville American Legion. He was the little league coach for the South Branch Boys for many years, and he instilled this love for playing ball into his children.  He loved to play cards and played often with his family and the Lewisville Gang.  His hard-working ethics are something he instilled in his children and grandchildren.

Wilbert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kay Sieg of South Branch; children, Douglas (Midge) Sieg of Truman, Curtis Sieg of St. James, Brian Sieg of St. James, Alan (Rudine) Sieg of Truman, Julie (Daniel) Barickman of Garner, IA, Jackie (John) Luttrell of Clark, SD and Jodi (Erin) Hill of Maxwell, IA; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Olivia Kopischke of Lewisville; many "favorite nieces" other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kimberly Sieg; great-granddaughter, Emily Hissam; sister, Violet (Jack) Koenig and brother-in-law, Harold Kopischke.
