Travis Scott Lang, 47, of Ceylon, MN, was called home on May 5, 2022. Visitation will be on May 13th from 4-8 PM at Zaharia Funeral Home in Truman. Funeral services will be on May 14th at 10 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Madelia with Rev. Kelly Heide officiating. Interment following at Calvary Cemetery in Madelia. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.
Travis was born on July 23, 1974, to Kay J (Nundahl) Lang and Daniel Lang in Madelia, MN. He started his life in Madelia, but as a military child, he was able to travel and live in many states. Travis spent some of his childhood in Texas, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Alaska until he returned to Minnesota in 1979. He attended grade school at St. Mary’s Catholic, attended Madelia High School through 10th grade, and graduated from Truman High School in 1992.
Travis often expressed deep admiration for the defenders of our great country, which led him to enlist his services in the Marines in the fall of 1993.
One of Travis’ other loves in life was music. He could give the background story of almost every song and band. Travis was a self-taught musician and loved playing any type of guitar, the drums, the piano, and basically anything that he could get a ‘beat’ on. He loved DJ’ing, playing with his dad and uncles, and the time spent playing with the multiple bands that he was in. He considered his bandmates as his brothers. They were a part of his family, as were the fans who quickly became his friends.
Family came first for Travis. Nicole and Travis shared 15 years of adventures together. They shared a son, Jack, who had always been Travis’ rock and best “buddy boo”, as Travis would say. Travis treasured the time spent with Jack jamming to music and playing drums together. Travis also helped raise Nicole’s daughter’s, Allison and McKenzie Johnston, as his own. Over the years, he attended every dance recital and cheered the girls on throughout every special moment.
Travis held many jobs throughout his life, but his first choice would always be the jobs outdoors. He started his own business, LDS Dryer Services, where he deeply enjoyed working with farmers throughout Minnesota and Iowa.
Travis loved traveling and being able to see the world with his own eyes. He always wanted to create his own story, not just see someone else’s story through pictures or the TV. His social network was incredible, as he could always make friends with complete strangers. He created countless lifelong friendships with hundreds of people throughout his time here.
Travis is survived by his mother, Kay J Lang; sisters Tracy (Barry) Hoffman and Brittany (Ryan) Rivers; brother Jesse Lang; stepmother Marianne Lang; son Jack Lang; fiancé Nicole Johnston; niece Jessie Becker; nephews Dakota, Kenyon, and Koewen Hoffman; and Nicole’s daughters Allison and McKenzie Johnston.
Travis was preceded in death by his grandparents; father Daniel Lang; cousin Geoffrey Schaaf; and infant cousins Tiffany and Natasha Schaaf.
