Tanya Annette Teig, age 49 of Plymouth and formerly of Truman passed away peacefully Thursday August 13,2020.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, her family will have a private funeral service and burial on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 2pm. A celebration of life will be held in the Twin Cities at a later date.
Tanya was born May 18, 1971 to Jerry and Ramona (Northwick) Teig in Fairmont, MN. She was the youngest of 4 daughters. She graduated from Truman High School in 1989 where she participated in volleyball, basketball, cheerleading and golf along with many other extra-curricular activities. She then went on to Mankato State University to pursue a degree in business administration.
In their 12 years together Tanya and Sean spent their time caring for Rocki, traveling, enjoying sports and running 5 K races together. Tanya was a diehard sports fan cheering on the Vikings, Twins and Gophers, and always enjoyed attending games with family and friends. FAMILY was another one of her passions. Always making time for her nieces and nephews, her son Timothy, and remaining close to her best friends, who also happen to be her sisters (the Teig sister outings were epic!) She had a deep love and respect for her dad, the first man to ever love her, whom she was still turning to for the “Dad knows best” advice. She was also an animal lover, rescuing Rocki their beloved bulldog. Although she no longer lived in Truman, she hadn’t missed a Truman Days celebration in over 20 years, just exemplifying her love for family and community. Her dedication also carried over to her work. She was employed at Supervalu for 17 years in the finance accounting department and most recently worked part time at Dicks Sporting Goods. Faith is what brought all of this together, to make Tanya the amazing daughter, sister and friend that no one who knew her will forget.
Left to cherish such wonderful memories are her life partner, Sean Watkins, her son Timothy, father Jerry Teig, sisters; Maria (Mike) Attema, Jenny (Martin) Peterson, Angie (Michael) Teig Miller, her nieces and nephews; Mitch and Sean Miller, Matt and Nicole Attema, Andy, Paige and Hailey Peterson, as well as many other family and close friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother Ramona (2008) whom she loved and adored, and both paternal and maternal grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Animal Humane Society and or Truman Days/Truman Parade would be greatly appreciated.
