Mary Ann Harder

Mary Ann Harder (Koeritz) 86 of Fairmont passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont.

A memorial service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the St John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont, with Rev. Richard Abel officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow at the St. James Lutheran Cemetery in rural Northrop. Online condolences can be left at www.zahariafamilyfuneral.com

Mary Ann was born June 13, 1932 in Welcome, MN the daughter of Arthur and Magdalene (Roehler) Koeritz. She graduated from Fairmont High School in 1950.  Mary Ann was united in marriage to Donald Alvin Swift on May 12, 1951 at St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop, MN. After Donald’s death, she married Melvin Harder on May 11, 1991 at St. John’s UCC in Fairmont, MN. Mary Ann was proud to raise a Christian family, was instrumental in starting a family business, was very involved in church and choir, and lived a gracious and dignified life.

Mary Ann is survived by her daughters, Pat Sohre (Art), Lake Crystal, MN, Bev Graplar, Fairmont, MN; sons, Steve Swift (Lisa), Fairmont, MN, Tim Swift (Michele), Claremont, MN; daughter-in-law Karen Swift Topeka, KS; 18 grandchildren and step grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and step great grandchildren; from Mary Ann’s second marriage she is survived by three daughters, Kimberly Grotzinger (Newton), Hampton, IA, Kara Harder, Omaha, NE, Krystal Pluim (Curt), Champlin, MN; one son, Brett Harder (Season), Brooklyn Park, MN.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by husband Donald Swift in 1985, and second husband Melvin Harder in 2014, sons Larry and Dan Swift, parents, sisters Esther Gatzke, Dorothy Koeritz, brother Butch Koeritz, and stepson Blake Harder.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Martin Luther High School (Northrop, MN) or charity of giver’s choice.
