Lucille Arlene Karau was born on January 25, 1938 in Madelia to Frederick J. and Olidia E. (Schultz) Karau. She married Harold “Archie” Voelker on April 8, 1956 and their marriage was blessed with two boys. They lived in the Lewisville area and were faithful community members, volunteering with the area Bloodmobiles and with the American Legion Auxiliary for many years. In addition to taking care of the home and family, Lucy worked at Tony Downs for 20 + years and worked as a waitress for local restaurants.  She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville until their closing, when she transferred her membership to Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia.  Playing cards, playing at the casino and bingo were favorite past times.

Lucy will be missed for many things; some that just can’t be explained effectively on paper; many of the things that can revolve around food-Her German potato salad, fried chicken complete with white gravy and her Pork Roast and potatoes.  Although the past years in Lucy’s life weren’t the most active or social, Her life with her husband and family were things to talk about for hours.

Lucille is survived by her two sons, Steven (Kathryn) Voelker of Fisher and James (Jodi) Voelker of Rosemount; three grandsons, Justin (Fiancé, Samantha Plumski), Jared (Kayla) Voelker and Tyler (significant other, Kaitlyn Jenkins); two great-grandchildren Caleb and Atlanta Voelker; siblings, Rosie Ratike of Litchfield, Marvin (Garnet) Karau of St. James; Jolene (Eldon) Wright of St. James; Dori Freisen of Mountain Lake, Denny (Margie) Karau of Boxelder, SD, Glady Berlin of Mankato and Helen Karau of Chesapeake, VA; brother-in-law, Tim Karau of Bradenton, FL; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold “Archie” Voelker, brother, Ralph Karau; infant brother, Greg Karau and infant sister, Dorthy Karau; brothers-in-law, Harley Ratike and Barry Freisen.
