Lila Mohwinkel

Lila Arliss Mohwinkel, age 89, passed away on her farm on November 29^th, 2023. Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday December 8, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Antrim, rural Truman. A time for visitation will be held from 4-6PM Thursday December 7 at Zaharia Family Funeral Home and continue one hour before the service at the church. Burial will take place in Antrim cemetery rural Truman.

Lila was born on July 16, 1934 to Julius and Meta (Urban) Wiederhoeft in Madelia Minnesota. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church Antrim on Aug 5, 1934 and confirmed, also at St. John’s Church on April 27, 1948. Lila attended St. John’s Lutheran School for 8 years, then finished her schooling at Truman Public school, graduating in 1952. After graduation she worked different stores in Lewisville. Lila met and married Willis Mohwinkel on January 4, 1954 at St. John’s, and together they raised 4 children. Lila stayed home to raise the children and also helped Willis on the farm. Later, when the children were adults, she worked at Tony Downs Foods in Madelia until her retirement. Willis passed away in 2020 and Lila continued to live on the farm. She was a patient person, but also very funny and quite the jokester, she enjoyed playing cards and spending quality time with friends and family.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gary (Marlene) Mohwinkel, Jerry (Becky) Mohwinkel, Larry (Amy) Mohwinkel, and Sherry Mohwinkel, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Darlene as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Lyle and Lloyd Wiederhoeft and infant great-grandchildren Edward and Draven and sister-in-law Annie.
