It is with heavy hearts and solemn remembrance that we announce the passing of Leland “Lee” Glen Carlson, who departed from this world on June 3, 2024. Born on November 29, 1944, to Glen and Agnes (Roberts) Carlson, Lee spent his formative years on a farm outside of Truman, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for his surroundings. Graduating from Truman High School in 1963, he then enlisted in the United States Air Force on January 7, 1964 and went on to bravely serve his country for 20 years, initially as a dedicated missile mechanic and later transitioning to work with computer programs. He was honorably discharged on February 1, 1984 at the rank of Technical Sargent
Throughout his life, Lee's passions extended far beyond his military service. He enjoyed the family ice fishing trips every winter, he also possessed a talent for quilting, embroidery, and a love for expanding his mind through reading. With a quiet demeanor and a well-kept sense of humor, Lee lived a life marked by humility and simplicity.
In the wake of his retirement, Lee ventured to Colorado before settling in Trimont in 2007, where he sought tranquility and cherished moments of solitude.
Survived by his beloved siblings; Rena Benson of Waterloo, IA, Lynn (Jacqueline) Carlson of Waseca, Eloise Miller of Truman, sister-in-law Carol Carlson of Fairmont, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Lee's memory will be lovingly cherished by those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers LeRoy and Chuck and brother-in-law Jon Benson.
A funeral service to celebrate Lee's life is scheduled to be held on Saturday June 15, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman, MN. Following the service, a burial ceremony will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery, where Lee will be laid to rest with the honors befitting his service to our nation as a proud Air Force veteran.
