Daniel A. Carlson

Daniel Arthur Carlson, age 67 of Lewisville, passed away on January 18, 2018 at Heartland Senior Living in Truman.  Visitation will be Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Zaharia Family Funeral Home in Truman. A Memorial service will be Thursday January, 25, 2018 at 1 PM at Zion Lutheran Church, Lewisville.   Dan was born on July 11, 1950 in Minneapolis, to Mildred (Moberg) and Axel Carlson. In high school, he was a member of FFA. While he grew up in Minneapolis, he enjoyed spending many summers on the family farm in Worthington.  He was a long time bus driver in Minneapolis and 25 years for Truman Bus Service.  He was a chaperone driver for the Burnsville Special Olympics and was active in 4-H.  He was a Watonwan County 4-H Adult leader for over 20 years and a Rabbit Superintendent for several years as well. Dan drove truck for Larry Wolle many summers, hauling corn and peas.  He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville.  Dan was a proud Marine and was very active on the Lewisville Legion Post 561, for the past 39 years, He was also an active member of the Legion Honor Guard.  Dan met Linda at the C-Store, in 1988 and they were married in August of 1990.  Dan enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his two beautiful daughters.  He was so proud of both of them, and was eager to assist with any project they dreamed up.  Dan was a practical joker, something that made people laugh, friends new and old. In his spare time, Dan loved nature, deer hunting and pine trees, spending as much time as he could around the campfire. He was an avid wood and leather worker. His interest in many things afforded him many adventures to Menards. Dan is survived by his wife, Linda (Poppe) Carlson; daughters, Tiffany and Elisabeth Carlson; brother-in-law, Jim (Jacque) Poppe; sister-in-law, Chris Wratz; cousin, John (Marlene) Moberg; honorary brother and best friend, Stephen Collins; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Dan is preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, Rod (Marilyn) Carlson and nephew, Ross Carlson.
