Betty Ann Kaelberer, age 77 of Truman passed away in her home under the care of hospice on December 2, 2018. A celebration of her life will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Antrim on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 10 AM with Pastor Mathew Rusert officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Lutheran- Antrim Cemetery, rural Truman. Visitation will be on Friday evening from 5-7 PM at Zaharia Family Funeral Home in Truman. www.ZahariaFamilyFuneral.com
Betty was born near Massena, IA to Marvin and Loine (Bosek) Russell on March 6, 1941. She graduated from Cumberland H.S. in IA and received her teaching certificate from Concordia Teachers College in Seward, NE. She married Jerome Kaelberer on June 29th, 1962. Betty touched many lives through her teaching as a preschool, elementary, and piano teacher. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook. She gained strength and comfort through a firm faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Her joys included reading, playing card and board games, quilting, scrapbooking, and being a spectator at the many sporting events of her kids and grandkids.
Betty is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jerome; sons, Jerrold (Dorie), Mark (Rhonda), Kent (Amy), Jay (Charity); daughters, ReNae (Bob) Tangen and Lynn (Lonny) Becker; 24 grandchildren, Mariah Kaelberer (Elliott Washington), Grace, Madelyn, and Clara Tangen, Chelsea and Jesse Kaelberer, Jordan, Maranda, and McKenna Sorensen, Caitlyn and Ryan Kaelberer, Leanna (Mat) Mahoney, Levi, Luke, Larissa, and Lance Becker, Isaac, Hannah, Esther, Mary, Noah, Eden, Chloe, and Micah Kaelberer;1 great grandchild, Nevaeh Mahoney (with two more on the way); 3 brothers, Harold (Lois) Russell, Ray (Sandi) Russell, Bill (Connie) Russell; 1 sister, Jeanne (Bill) Daprano; numerous nieces and nephews. Betty will be greatly missed by her best friend, Glenni Urban.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents.
Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the wonderful personnel involved with her care from the Mayo Hospice Program South Team and friends for the many phone calls, cards, and visits which she enjoyed so much!
