Funeral services for Ronald Shoen, 91, Truman, MN will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 10:30 am at the Church of Christ in Truman with Pastor Merrill Davis officiating. Interment will be held at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, rural Truman with full military honors by Oles-Reader-Bosshart American Legion Post 115. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 2-4:00 pm at Zaharia Family Funeral & Cremation Service of Truman and one hour before the services in the church. Ron died on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Mayo Health Systems-Fairmont. Ronald M. Shoen was born on September 6, 1925 in Westford Township to Cecil and Joy (Follet) Shoen. He lived in Westford Township all his life attending school in Truman, MN graduating in 1943. Ronald worked as a farmhand for Erick Bloomquest until he went into the service March 4, 1945 through December 30, 1946. After his discharge he came home and started farming with his brother Frank in the Spring of 1947. On March 21, 1948 Ronald was united in marriage to Elsie Riggle and continued farming. He was active in 4-H, Farm Bureau, served on the Church of Christ board as a Deacon and an Elder, and was a member of the American Legion for 71 years. Ronald is survived by his three sons, Maurice (Kris) Shoen, Fairmont, Alan (Karen) Shoen, Truman, Don (Dawn) Shoen, Truman; two daughters, Gloria (Mike) Ryan, Fergus Falls, MN, Susan (Rod) Halvorsen, Fairmont; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; two sisters, Cathy Chamberlain, Fairmont, Lucille Schutte, Plymouth, MN; two sisters-in-law, Barb Shoen, Truman, Irene Shoen, Fairmont; and several nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elsie; brothers, Frank, Robert, James; sister, Celia; three brothers-in-law.
