Eileen May Fowler

Funeral services for Eileen M. Fowler will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Church of Christ, Truman, MN with Pastors Davis and Burnham officiating. Interment will be held at the Horicon Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 10-11:00 am at the church. Eileen May Fowler passed away on December 9, 2016 at Truman Senior Living, Truman, MN at the age of 95 years, 5 Months, 23 days. Eileen was born in rural Winnebago to Carrie and Guy Sperry on June 16, 1921 on the Sperry farm. She went to country school and graduated from Truman High School where she excelled in public speaking. After graduating from Minnesota Business School-Mankato she obtained a position at Railway Motors in Fairmont. On June 22, 1941 Eileen was united in marriage to Laurence H. Fowler of Westford Township. In 1948 they moved to the Sperry Farm. She helped on the farm and enjoyed gardening and especially tending her flowers. They raised four children, Patricia, Larry, Darryl and Duane. Eileen was very active in her children’s lives helping them with their 4-H projects and serving as adult leader for 21 years for Nashville 4-H club and as an active parent in Huntley school. She was a talented vocalist who sang at weddings and funerals in the area. Eileen was also a practice dramatist who provided dramatic readings much to the enjoyment of those in attendance at many local functions. Eileen was an active member of the Horicon Church of Christ, serving as Sunday School superintendent and teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and officer in Women’s Mission. She sang for various church occasions. She served as Adult 4-H leader for 21 years for the Nashville 4-H Club. She was also a member of the Rural Study Club and Mothers Club. Eileen was a much loved mom, grandma, family member and friend. Eileen is survived by her Daughter Patricia (Lynn) Ritter of Zumbrota, Son's Larry (Bonnie) Fowler of Dundas, Darryl (Mary) of Granada and Duane (Amy) Fowler of Hastings. Ten Grandchildren: Jeffrey, Michael, Stacy, Carrie, James, Jennifer, Brenda, John, David & Megan. Eighteen Great Grandchildren: Kayla, Taylr, Jessica, Bryan, Matthew, Brandon, Sarah, David, Alan, Ryan, Kate, Ashley, William, Eric, Charles, Adeline, Owen, & Jack. Eileen was preceded in death by her Husband Laurence H. Fowler, Parents Guy & Carrie Jurgenson Sperry; Sisters Muriel Bowers, & Glee Gartzke.
