Drevlow, 99, Fairmont, MN, formerly of South Branch Township, St. James, MN will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Truman with Rev. Virginia Ruth Uttech was born on September 4, 1917, to Lydia and Henry Uttech, in Lebanon, Wisconsin, where she was baptized in the local Lutheran church. When she was a young girl, the family moved to Horicon, WI, where she attended elementary school and high school. After graduating, she attended the Columbia County Normal School, and then taught in one of the rural schools in the area. On June 19, 1943, Virginia married Arthur Drevlow, a recently ordained pastor, in Fall River, WI. Beginning at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Randall, MN, Virginia assisted her husband through more than 50 years in church ministry. She joined in many parish activities, and taught in the parish Christian day school. Virginia and her husband moved to Goodhue, MN in 1946, and then to the rural St. James area in 1951, where her husband served two Lutheran churches, in South Branch and Antrim townships. After her husband retired in 1987, they moved to Fairmont, MN. At home, Virginia’s gardening, cooking, and baking—along with her time-management skills—became legendary within the family. In the early 1960s she enrolled at Minnesota State University, Mankato, and earned a BA degree in elementary education. She continued an active life in Fairmont until moving to Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in 2010. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: David and June, of Charlotte, NC, Ron and Adrienne, of Melbourne, Australia, and Daniel and Chris, of Norwood-Young America, MN, along with five grandchildren and a great grandson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Truman, Martin Luther High School, Northrop, or Lutheran Bible Translators, Concordia, MO.
