Funeral services for Agnes Mae Carlson, 95, Truman, MN will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Truman. Interment will take place at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Truman. Agnes died on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Goldfinch Estates-Memory Care, Fairmont. Visitation will be held one hour before the services in the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Zaharia Family Funeral & Cremation Service of Truman. Agnes Mae Roberts, Daughter of Alfred & Eva (Hartman) Roberts was born on July 16, 1920 on her parent’s farm in Center Creek Township, Martin County, Minnesota. She attended grades 1st-8th at District 28 County School in Center Creek Township. In 1938, Agnes graduated from Granada High School. After graduation, Agnes did domestic work for families in the area until she met her future husband. On September 15, 1940, she was united in marriage to Glen Carlson of Truman, Minnesota, at her parents farm in rural Granada, Minnesota. After their wedding, Agnes & Glen moved to a farm by Truman and farmed for 34 years. They retired from farming in 1974 and in the winter of 1974, Agnes and Glen moved to their newly built home in Truman. After Glen’s death in 1983, Agnes continued to live in their home until November, 1995, and moved to the Booz Apartments .At the time of her death, Agnes was a resident of Goldfinch Estates. Agnes enjoyed reading and doing word search puzzles. She was a member of “The Top of the Hill Club”. She enjoyed traveling and visited Alaska, Hawaii, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, Sweden, Europe, Israel, China, Australia, and New Zealand. Agnes’ hobby was doing embroidery quilt tops, pillow cases, & dish towels. She made embroidered quilts for all of her family members. Agnes was a member for 63 years at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman. She was actively involved with church activities which included: Sunday School teacher, Ladies Aid, & Lois Circle. She was a member of the building committee when Trinity built their new church in 1965. Agnes is survived by her 2 daughters: Rena E. Benson of Austin and Eloise Miller of Truman; 3 sons: Leland Carlson of Trimont, Lynn (Jacque) Carlson of Waseca and Charles (Carol) Carlson of Fairmont; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brother, Marion Roberts of Mason City, IA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 43 years Glen; son, LeRoy Carlson; great-grandchildren, Sebastian Carlson-Hillmer; son-in-law, Jon Benson; siblings, Rena (Howard) Boler, James (Laverne) Roberts and Jane Roberts.
