Elvera Dorothy Hartmann

Funeral Services for Elvera Dorothy Hartmann, 93 of rural Northrop, Minnesota, will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, Fraser Township with the Rev. Robert Trueblood officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Northrop. Elvera Hartmann died Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Goldfinch Memory Care, Fairmont. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 am at the church Monday. Elvera Hartmann was born August 14, 1922 to Ruben and Martha (Lohmann) Rose in Rutland Township. She attended St. James Lutheran School and Northrop Public School District. Elvera married Elmer “Bub” Hartmann on April 25, 1943. From this marriage two children were born, Keith and Kathy. Elvera worked as a clerk at the Army base PX at Camp Crowder, Missouri where her husband was stationed during WWII. In 1946 they moved to the family farm near Northrop, MN. Elvera lived on the farm until 2014 when she moved to Goldfinch Memory Care Fairmont, MN. Her husband passed away August 4, 2003. Elvera worked on the farm tending to her garden and flowers and raising her children. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and especially enjoyed their many fishing trip to northern Minnesota. She enjoyed playing cards and often said “anytime is a good time to play cards.” Elvera was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church, Northrop, MN. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and PTL. She was a member of the Rose Lake Golf Club, especially enjoying the Grandma’s Club. She was also a member of the Northrop American Legion Auxiliary. Her most happy times were being surrounded by her family, cooking, baking for them, making them feel good. Elvera is survived by her son Keith and his wife Mary Jo Hartmann, Granada, MN. Daughter, Kathy and husband Gary Hoese of Mayer, MN. Five grandchildren, Jessica (Erik) Larson of Fargo, ND, Jedd (Jess) Hartmann of Rogers, MN, Joni ( Kurt) Dagel of Astoria, SD. Jeremy (Lani) Hoese of Mayer, Mn, Jenny (Curt) Wiese of Duluth, MN. Nine great grandchildren. Sister Fern Luhmann of Truman, Mn. Sister in law Luverna Hartmann of Fairmont and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and several brother and sister in laws. Memorials may be given to the St. James Lutheran Church Fire Fund or Martin Luther High School. Blessed be the Memory of Elvera Hartmann.
