Violet Pearl Hansen

Funeral services for Violet Pearl Hansen, 89, Truman, MN will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the Truman Church of Christ. Private interment will be at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Truman. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services in the church. Violet died on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Mayo Health System-Fairmont. Arrangements are with Zaharia Family Funeral & Cremation Service of Truman. Violet Pearl Carlson was born on October 22, 1926 on the home farm where she lived nearly her entire life. She graduated from Truman High School; class of 1944. Violet continued her education at Mankato Commercial College. Her first job was a secretary at Fairmont Railway Motors. Violet then moved to Albert Lea and did secretarial work for the Wilson Packing Company. While living in Albert Lea, she met the love of her life Roger Hansen. They were married August 8, 1948 at the Truman Church of Christ. They moved to her parents’ family farm on the north side of Truman where they farmed and raised their family. Violet enjoyed puzzles, board games, fishing, traveling with Roger and entertaining guests in her home. Violet lived her life serving the Lord and was involved in many activities in the Truman Church of Christ and throughout the community. Violet passed away April 14, 2016 at Mayo Health Center in Fairmont. Violet is survived by one daughter, Mary Gail (Tom) Jones of New Berlin, WI; three sons, Mark (Joan) Hansen of Truman, Steve (Ramona) Hansen of Cedar Rapids, IA, and James (Brenda) Hansen of Truman; thirteen grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn (Don) Swanson of Sherburn, MN; three sisters-in-law, Ramona Peterson, Pauline (Harland) Nelson and Althea Schmidt all of Albert Lea, MN and one brother-in-law, Richard Jensen of Edina, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Pearl Carlson, father and mother-in-law, Elmer and Naomi Hansen, and two brothers-in-law, Richard Peterson and Marvin Schmidt.
