Funeral services for Eldor E. Pfeil, 90, Truman, MN will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 10:30 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville with Rev. Brian Thorson officiating. Interment with full military honors by the Lewisville Legion Post 561 will be held at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lewisville. Eldor passed away on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 5-7:00 pm at Zaharia Family Funeral & Cremation Service of Truman and one hour before at the church Wednesday. Eldor Emil Pfeil was born on January 4, 1926 at the Winnebago Hospital to Carl and Erna (Mantuefel) Pfeil. He was baptized at home by Rev. Heineman of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Truman. His family farmed east of Truman and they later moved east of Madelia, MN where he attended all 12 grades of school, graduating in 1944. He was confirmed by Rev. Rumsch at Zion Lutheran Church on April 21, 1940. Eldor was awarded the Eagle Scout in 1943 at Madelia Rural Troop 64. On Sunday, November 7, 1948 Eldor was united in marriage to DeLores Boesch by Rev. Heyne at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Truman. He entered the US Army on May 12, 1952 at Ft. Lee, Virginia. He served as Cpl. in Korea with 151st Combat Engineers as a Supply Handler. He returned to farming at Lewisville until 1991 when they moved to Truman. Eldor was always involved in church at Zion, where he served 36 years as secretary and treasurer of AAL Branch 729. Eldor was Sunday School Superintendent and church Elder for several years. He was a volunteer at Truman Historical Museum since opening in 1999 and was a board member. They traveled to Nashville, California, Colorado, British Columbia, spent ten winters in Arizona and loved fishing in Minnesota with friends. Eldor is survived by his wife of 67 years DeLores Pfeil, Truman, MN, their four children are their greatest blessing.
