Elta Kelly

Funeral services for Elta Kelly, 98, Fairmont, MN formerly of Truman, MN will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Truman with Rev. Nathan Rusert officiating. Interment will be held at the church cemetery. Elta died on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Mayo Health Systems-Fairmont. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church from 11:00 am-1:00 pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to Zaharia Family Funeral & Cremation Service of Truman. Elta Marie Helen Zenk was born on February 15, 1917 on the family farm near Lewisville, MN to Herman and Alwina (Wiederhoeft) Zenk. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville and attended Lewisville Public School. On May 25, 1946, Elta was united in marriage to Harold Kelly at Winnebago, MN. They farmed in Nashville Township on the Kelly home place until they retired from farming in 1968. Having sold their door-yard acreage in 1981, they moved to their home in Truman. After Harold’s death in May of 2000, Elta remained in Truman until moving to Fairmont in 2002. While living on the farm, Elta was active with the rural 4-H Clubs volunteering as a leader. She also volunteered with her former church at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Winnebago and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman. Elta was active with a Birthday Club and circles at both churches. She worked for the Winnebago Hospital and the Lutheran Retirement Home in Truman. Elta is survived by one sister, Lorraine Ottomoeller, Fairmont; one sister-in-law, Rosaleen Zenk, Truman; she is also survived by a niece of the Kelly’s, Pamela (Kelly) Kain with whom she had a home with for many years; many other nieces and nephews also survive. Elta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; brothers.
