A Mass of Christian Burial for Lois Sackett, 90, Truman, MN will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. Katherine’s Catholic Church, Truman, MN with Father Timothy Hall, Celebrant. Interment will be at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, rural Truman. Lois died on Monday, November 30, 2015 at Truman Senior Living. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 5-7:00 pm at Zaharia Family Funeral & Cremation Service of Truman. Lois Jean Schmid was born on October 7, 1925 in New Ulm, MN to Carl and Helen (Lemke) Schmid. She attended and graduated from Holy Trinity (now Cathedral) High School, New Ulm in 1943. Lois worked at Ochs Dept. Store, New Ulm until 1950. On June 15, 1950 Lois was united in marriage to Guy Sackett in Fairmont, MN. They farmed in Waverly Township until 1972 and then in Nashville Township until Guy died in 1984. They raised Registered Black Angus cattle, hogs, chickens, geese and ducks and also raised and showed Registered Arabian horses and Shetland ponies. Lois moved to Truman in 1990. She worked at Armours, Con-Agra in Fairmont; Truman Plumbing and Heating and in the Truman school kitchen. She took great pride in her children and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and their activities. Lois was an avid reader, loved to play Scrabble and Upwords and visit family and friends. Lois was a Charter member of St. Katherine’s Catholic Church, CCW, a member of the Truman Historical Society and helped in community projects. Lois is survived by one daughter, Mary (Roger) Studer, Sherburn; three sons, Steven Sackett, Fairmont, Thomas (Julie) Sackett, Winnebago, James (Daphne) Sackett, Winnebago; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 3 step-great grandchildren; one sister, Kathleen Rolloff, Sacramento, CA; one brother, Arlon (Marilyn) Schmid, New Ulm; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Bob Jensen.
