Carol Schwanz

Funeral services for Carol D. Schwanz, 86, Truman, MN will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church-South Branch, rural St. James, MN. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Carol died on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Mayo Health Systems-Fairmont. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services in the church. Carol Darlene Peterson, the daughter of Hans and Hannah (Nelson) Peterson was born on December 20, 1928, in Fairmont, MN. She began her education at Waverly Township Country School, and she graduated from the Truman High School. On November 17, 1951, Carol was united in marriage to Herman Junior Schwanz at Waverly Lutheran Church. They made their home on the farm near Truman, where Carol raised the family and helped with the farm. She also worked as a secretary in several businesses, including John Deere in Truman. Carol was baptized and confirmed at the Waverly Lutheran Church, and she was currently a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in South Branch. She loved horses and horseback riding, watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, and time with her family. She also enjoyed keeping record of all family events and happenings. Carol is survived by her husband, Herman Schwanz of Truman; 3 children, Debra (John) Meng, Douglas (Vicky) Schwanz, and Daniel Schwanz, all of Truman; 7 grandchildren and their families, Connie (Bill) Hoops and their children Jordan and his son Calvin, Joshua and Joel, Chad (Jenny) Meng and their children Brandon and Brooklyn, Derik (Rise)and their children Logan and Aubree, Mychal (Juliann) Schwanz and their son Louden, Philip (Megan) Schwanz and their children Ashlyn and Hannah, Cody Schwanz and Sarah Schwanz; siblings, Eleanor Lubitz, Faye Draper, Merle (Phyllis) Peterson, and Doyle (Arlene) Peterson; sister-in-law, Geri Peterson; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; great grandson, Levi Schwanz; and siblings, Clair Peterson, Lester Peterson, Thelma Schmellen, Lowell Peterson, Arlo Peterson and Ardis Bast.
