Funeral services for Paul F. Diel, 68, rural Amboy, MN will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 1:00 pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Willow Creek, rural Vernon Center, MN with Rev. John Bennett officiating. Interment will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery-North Willow Creek, rural Vernon Center, MN. Paul died on May 6, 2015 at his home in rural Amboy. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 10, 2015 from 2-4:00 pm at Zaharia Family Funeral & Cremation service of Truman and one hour before the services in the church. Paul Friederich Diel was born on December 7, 1946 in Fairmont, MN to Wilhelm and Anna (Blume) Diel. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran-Willow Creek. Paul attended St. John’s Lutheran Parochial School and attended and graduated from Amboy, MN. He was a very hardworking man and always believed if something was worth doing, it was worth doing well. Some of his jobs included painting water towers, working for the railroad, running restaurants, fixing houses, delivering newspapers and finally entering his career in maintenance. He retired from maintenance in 2010. Paul was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church-Willow Creek. He enjoyed being outdoors, boating, camping, fishing, hunting and helping out others. He was known for many sayings and philosophies. Paul loved spending time with his family. He was well known by many and will be greatly missed. Paul is survived by his significant other, Sheryl of Mason City, IA; two daughters, Stephanie of Arizona, Rachel Diel of Mankato; two sons, Mark Clausen (Marie) of Baxter, MN, Timothy Diel (Tiffany) of Mankato; two step daughters, Tommi Kaye (Joel) of Mason City, IA Shannon Bryant of Mason City, IA, ; two step sons, Pat Honken of Mason City, IA, Brent Honken (Marni) of Mason City, IA; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters, Sylvia Diel of the Twin Cities, MN, Anna Klocek (Alex) of Fairmont, MN, Engold Diel of St. James, MN; sisters-in-law, Doris Diel of Amboy, MN, Sharon Johnson of Mason City, IA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Carl, Helmut “Herb” and Wilhelm “Babe”. www.zahariafamilyfuneral.com A benefit for Paul will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 4:00 pm-12:00 am to help defer funeral costs.
