Betty Rose Nord, age 86, of Truman, died Saturday, October 11, 2014, at Lutz Wing in Mayo Health Systems in Fairmont. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at 2:00 PM, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman, with Pastor Tony Fink officiating. Burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday, October 16, 2014 in Slayton Memorial Garden, Slayton. Visitation time will be from 5:00PM-7:00PM Tuesday October 14 at Zaharia Family Funeral and Cremation Service of Truman, and 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.zahariafamilyfuneral.com She was born August 12, 1928, at Slayton, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Hazel (Minor) Staples. She graduated from Slayton High School in 1945. She attended Mankato Commercial College and received secretarial training. Her first "Corporate? job was at John Morrell Company in Sioux Falls, SD. On January 21, 1950 she married Charles "Chuck? Nord at the United Methodist Church in Slayton. They farmed near Slayton until they moved to Truman in 1961. She helped on the family farm, worked as an Avon representative, was a school cook, and was active as an election judge in Truman for over 30 years. She so enjoyed her rose garden, playing cards until the wee hours of the morning, and could dance up a storm with her partner and husband of nearly 65 years. They were magic on the dance floor. Most of all she was a loving wife and mother. She is survived by her husband, Chuck Nord of Truman, son, Steve (Brenda) Nord of Oro Valley, AZ, and son Michael (Karen) Nord of Edina. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Donald and Dick Staples, and sister Dorothy Roberts.
