Lorraine Bertha Thomforde was born on March 4, 1927 in rural Goodhue, MN to Henry W. and Anna Louise (Dahling) Thomforde. She graduated from the School of Agriculture-U of M in 1944. On August 21, 1953, Lorraine was united in marriage to Robert Gieseke at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Belvedere, MN. Their marriage was blessed with 7 wonderful children. Lorraine was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church-South Branch where she was involved in many areas of the church. She served as a 4-H Leader, quilting for the Orphan Grain Train, Jersey Cattle Club, Lutheran Laymen's League and many other civic organizations over the years. Lorraine died on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Oaklawn Health Care Center, Mankato, MN.
Lorraine is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Robert Gieseke, St. James, MN; 7 children, Art (Ellen) Gieseke, Litchfield, MN, Ann (Doug) Jones, Lake Crystal, MN, Eric (Dawn) Gieseke, Woodstock, VT, Sarah (Al) Garcia St. James, MN, Wayne (Val) Gieseke, Barron, WI, Peter (Amy) Gieseke, St. James, MN, Amy (Bryan) Quiram, Le Center, MN; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Norma Thomforde and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ilice in infancy, Marjorie (Norman) Juers; brothers, Harvey (Phyllis) Thomforde, Dellas Thomforde, Wayne (Gwen) Thomforde; son-in-law, Douglas Jones; Nephew, David Juers and niece, Joyce Schmidt.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to the Lutheran Hour Ministries and the Orphan Grain Train.
