Lois Grunig was born on June 13, 1924 in Darfur, MN to Jacob and Esther (Geuther) Grunig. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Darfur and graduated from Butterfield High School in 1942. On Feb. 14, 1943 Lois married Lorin Sharp of St. James. They divorced in 1949. On March 19, 1950 Lois married Milford Hoppe of Truman. They farmed for years in southern MN. They lived in Madelia until moving to New Jersey in 1968, and lived there until 1977 when they moved to Truman. Lois worked at Data Ram, Weigh Tronix and Optel during these years until retirement. During retirement, she enjoyed mowing lawns and wintered in New Jersey. Lois died on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Truman Senior Living.
Lois is survived by one daughter, Deb (Sam) Owl, Cherokee, NC; four sons, Robert (Gloria) Sharp, Albert Lea, MN, Bruce (Helen) Sharp, St. James, MN, Steven (Terri) Hoppe, Pennington, NJ, Bradly (Jeanne) Hoppe, Trenton, NJ; one daughter-in-law, Linda Hoppe, NJ; two brothers, Garland Grunig, Madelia, MN, Willis (Eulalie Ann) Grunig, Truman, MN; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandchild; many special nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milford; son, Timothy; daughter, Suzanne; grandson, Joel; sister, Ladonna Jenkins; brother-in-law, Ronald Jenkins; sister-in-law, Merlys Grunig and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Sharp.
