Mary Ravenberg

June 2, 1915 — January 18, 2014

Mary Heppner was born in Chinook, Montana on June 2, 1915 to D. K. and Barbara (Janzen) Heppner. As a very young girl, the family returned to the Mt. Lake area where Mary attended District 53 schools until her high school graduation in 1935. On April 7, 1938, she married Claude Ravenberg of Butterfield. They farmed just south of Butterfield for a couple of years before moving to town. Mary proudly lived in her home until July 2010 when she moved to Leawood, KS to reside with her daughter and son-in-law, Sonja and Chuck Loudenback. She was an avid gardener, enjoying her beautiful flower gardens for many years. Mary also enjoyed needlework and was an expert baker. For years she delighted her family with "care packages? full of homemade cookies, candy and apple pie. Mary worked in the cafeteria in the Butterfield school system and Butterfield Foods until her retirement. She also was a member of First Lutheran Church and Community Club Auxiliary. Mary died peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2014 in Leawood, KS. Survivors include her daughter, Sonja Loudenback of Leawood, KS, son Duane (Jane) of Thomasville, NC, 2 grandchildren, Chris (Erika) Ravenberg and Heather Ravenberg, 4 step-grandchildren, Rick, Jeff (Sheila), Jenny (Becky), Scott (Laurie) Loudenback. She also leaves 2 great-grandchildren, Emma and Sean Ravenberg, 6 step-great-grandchildren, Alec, Andrew, Abby, Caroline, Allison and Aaron Loudenback, 2 sisters, Arlene Penner and Burdine Weins as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ravenberg is preceded in death by her husband, mother and father, 2 sisters, 3 brothers and one son-in-law. Arrangements have been entrusted to Zaharia Family Funeral & Cremation Service of Truman, MN.
