Lester Robert Mausling was born on April 27, 1930 in Madelia, MN to Harry and Theresa (Schultz) Mausling. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Truman. Lester attended school in Truman. As a young adult, he worked for various local farmers until being drafted into the US Army serving at Fort Hood, TX. Lester was united in marriage to Donna Johnson Rubedor on August 3, 1957. To this union, they were blessed with two children, Brian and Julie. He worked for Case Implement and later Ford Tractor of Fairmont. Later he drove truck for Bosshart Company of Truman and Halter Trucking of Springfield. On August 24, 1974 Lester was united in marriage to Marie Bittof Rich at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Truman. As a young man he enjoyed participating in demolition derbies and later gardening, fishing, vacationing, playing skipbo, Triominos, cards and taking care of his pets. After retirement, Lester and Marie lived in Florida from 1993-2002 when they returned to Minnesota to be near family and friends. Lester has been a resident of Truman Senior Living for nearly four years. Lester died on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Mayo Health Systems-Fairmont.
Lester is survived by his wife, Marie, Truman, MN; one son, Brian Mausling, Truman, MN; one daughter, Julie (Blaine) Sweet, Fairmont; Grandaughter, Jena Nowak and great grandchildren, Mason, Ashlyn and Britney all of Fairmont; six step children, Roger, Dennis, Steven, William and Kevin Rich and Belinda Miller; eleven step-grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren; two sisters, Darlene (Omar) Erslin and Judy Mausling; one brother, LeRoy (Doris) Mausling; and one sister-in-law, June Mausling. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Flohrs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Heart Association, Alzheimer's Association or Parkinson's Association.
