Wilbert John Zastrow was born Dec. 29, 1923, in Mankato, Minn., the son of John and Wilhelmina (Ikier) Zastrow. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Vernon Center. His family moved to a farm near Willow Creek, where Wilbert helped his dad on the farm. Wilbert farmed until 1970. He then owned Zastrow Campers until his retirement in the 1990s. He was united in marriage to Loretta Boesch on July 29, 1945. She preceded him in death in September 1971. In January 1973, he was united in marriage to Pat Petersen. She preceded him in death in June 2007. They wintered in Mesa, Ariz., for over 30 years, spending their summers at their lake cabin near Richmond, Minn. Wilbert loved old-time music, crafts, doing yard work, taking care of roses and spending time with his family.
Wilbert is survived by his two daughters, Julaine Riewe (Mike) Zender of Mankato and MarLeone (Steve) Williamson of Trimont; two step-sons, Gary (Trish) Petersen of Amboy and Gale (Rita) Petersen of Cold Springs; seven grandchildren, Rhonda Salkin, Jesse (Katherine) Riewe, Jennifer (Carlos) Neira, Ryan Riewe, Jamie (Debbie) Williamson, Justin (Jill) Williamson and Stephanie (Mark) Wolhluter; many step-grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his two wives; two sisters, Rosella Boetcher and Leona Bergeman; son-in-law, Roger Riewe; and grandson, Rodney Riewe.
