Myrna was born on December 28, 1934, in rural Wilton Junction, Iowa to Gerhardt and Eleonore (Staehr) Beer. She was reborn a child of God in the water of Holy Baptism on January 20, 1935 at Zion Lutheran Church in Wilton Junction. She was confirmed in the Christian Faith on March 21, 1948 at Zion Lutheran Church in Wilton Junction. She received her high school diploma at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato in 1952.
Myrna worked as a legal secretary in Davenport, Iowa and in Denver, Colorado. Myrna was united in Holy Matrimony to Edgar Mumme on August 11, 1963 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bennett, Iowa. They made their home in rural St. James. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in South Branch, where she had served as church secretary. Myrna enjoyed sewing, quilting, scrapbooking and family history. Myrna died on Thursday, January 23, 2013, at Mayo Health Systems-Mankato.
She is survived by her husband Edgar, one daughter Mary (Sam) Erdman of Eagan, four sons, Mark (Beth) Mumme of Hardwick, Minnesota, Paul (Lori) Mumme of Plainfield, Illinois, David (Glenda) Mumme and Matthew (Michele) Mumme, both of Waterville, twenty grandchildren, one brother, Marvin (Jean) Beer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, two sisters, Donna (Lowell) Kitzmann of Bangor, Wisconsin and Barb (Allen) Webb of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Daryl Beer of Pekin, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
