Henry Clay Henton was born on August 25, 1917 in Truman, MN the eldest son of Bernard and Elsie (Hanson) Henton. He graduated from Truman High School. On August 23, 1942, Henry was united in marriage to Irene Edna Schwanz. They established their home on the family farm in Nashville Township where they raised their family of five children. A farmer, Henry was also interested in sports and for many years was an active league bowler. In their early retirement years, he and Irene enjoyed winters in Mesa, AZ where they socialized with many of their Truman friends. After Irene's death in 2002, Henry continued to reside in Truman Senior Living. Henry was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Truman throughout his adult life. Henry died peacefully on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Truman Senior Living with family at his side.
Henry will be greatly missed by his children and their families, H. C. Skip Henton and his wife Bonnie of Truman, Sharon Nelson and her husband Doug of Brunswick, ME, Donald Henton and his wife, Janice of Safety Harbor, FL, David Henton and his wife Sandy of Fairmont, Gayle Henton of Two Harbors, MN; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Henry was preceded in death by his siblings, Cecile Armstrong, Bob Henton, Wanda McGinney and Nancy Shea. A special friend, Verna Slinger also shares in the loss.
