Phyllis Kay Fisher

Phyllis Kay Haynes was born on July 28, 1939 in Springfield, MN to Jean H. and Nina (Gronewald) Haynes. She attended country school in South Branch Township and graduated from St. James High School in 1957. Phyl attended Mankato State College graduating in 1961. On June 9, 1962 Phyllis was united in marriage to Dick Fisher at the St. James Presbyterian Church. Phyl attended Graduate School at Highlands University, Las Vegas, NM and attended the School of Alcohol Studies, University of MN. Phyl lived in several states before she and Dick moved back to MN in 1988. Phyl and Dick moved back to her grandparent's farm place and built a home in 2004. Phyl worked as a teacher and school librarian, bookstore manager, foster parent, senior volunteer CARE coordinator, numerous volunteer organizations and baker extraordinaire. She was a wonderful mom, grandma and caregiver. Phyl was a member of the Fairmont United Methodist Church. She was active in local churches throughout their moves. Phyl enjoyed reading, history, bluegrass music, family activities and camping. Phyllis died on Friday, August 3, 2012 at the New Ulm Medical Center. Phyl is survived her husband of 50 years, Dick Fisher, Lewisville, MN; two daughters and son-in-law, Kari Fisher, Bloomington, MN, Ann Webb and her husband Ricky, Golden, CO; 6 grandchildren Genesis Garcia Fisher, Miranda Webb, Maya Garcia Fisher, Delaney Webb, Emiliano Garcia Fisher and Dalton Webb. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Karen Tenney and one brother, Ron Haynes. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be sent to www.ifopa.org promoting research to find a cure for FOP, a disorder affecting granddaughter, Miranda Webb and others.
