Robert G. ""Bob"" Shoen was born Aug. 27, 1935, in Truman, the son of Cecil F. and Joy M. (Follet) Shoen. He was raised in rural Truman and was a 1953 graduate of Truman High School. Following service in the U.S. Army, he returned to rural Truman, where he farmed. He was married to Irene D. Sorlie on Dec. 1, 1958, in Mankato. Bob was a lifetime resident of rural Truman, where he farmed and raised purebred Jersey cattle, for over 50 years. He was an active member of the Minnesota Jersey Cattle Club, the Martin County American Dairy Association and attended the Truman Church of Christ. Bob loved to read and was fond of historical books and the traditional Sunday papers. In retirement, he liked to travel, and enjoyed a trip to Europe with Irene and his sons. Farming and hard work were his joy, only to be outmatched by his love for his family and spending time with and attending events with his grandchildren.
