Harold Henry Voelker

Harold Henry Voelker was born on May 29, 1926 in rural Martin County to Herman and Lena (Saxen) Voelker. He was baptized on June 6, 1926 and confirmed on May 5, 1940 both at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Truman. Archie attended parochial school at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Truman. Archie served his country during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1954. On April 8, 1956 Archie was united in marriage to Lucille Karau at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Truman. Archie worked for the Bosshart Company in Truman as a Truck Driver for the majority of his adult life. He retired at 65 years old. Archie helped various farmers after his retirement. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville where he held numerous offices. Archie was a member of the Lewisville American Legion Post 561 and the Korean War Vets in Fairmont. He was very involved in the Lewisville community where he served as the Mayor, the City Clerk, on City Council and on the Lewisville Ambulance Squad. Archie loved calling bingo and watching Wheel of Fortune. Archie died on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia. Archie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lucy Voelker, Madelia, MN; two sons, Steven and Kathy of East Grand Forks, MN, James and Jodi of Rosemount, MN; three grandsons, Justin (Amy), Jared (Kayla) and Tyler; one great grandson, Caleb. Archie was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lillian Will and one brother, Marvin Voelker. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred.
