Arlene Augusta Schaefer

Arlene Augusta Becker was born on August 30, 1923 in Northrop, MN to August and Augusta (Lueth) Becker. On September 23, 1923 Arlene was baptized at St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop. She was confirmed on March 21, 1937 at St. James Lutheran Church. She attended St. James Lutheran School in Northrop and graduated from Fairmont High School. On January 6, 1946 Arlene was united in marriage to Herbert Schaefer at St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop. They farmed in Galena, Westford and Nashville Townships. Arlene worked as a bookkeeper for Truman Farmer's Elevator for several years. They retired into Truman in November of 1988 and moved to Fairmont in 2001. Herbert died on December 25, 2007. In June of 2011 Arlene moved into Woodland Manor and into the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in August of 2011. Arlene was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Truman where she was a member of Ladies Aid. She was also very active in her earlier years at the Galena Township Church. Arlene and Herbert wintered in Mesa, AZ for many years where they hiked and golfed. She loved having family around so she could spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arlene died on Monday, July 09, 2012 at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Arlene is survived by two daughters, Barb (Larye) Anderson, Rochester, MN, Nina (Paul) Hesby, Rochester, MN; two sons, Charles (Joell) Schaefer, Fairmont, MN, Richard (Diane) Schaefer, Fairmont, MN; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one sister, Lila Mae Koeritz, Northrop, MN; one brother, Erhart Becker, Fort Meyers, FL; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Becker, Fairmont, Donna Schaefer, Fairmont and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert; three sisters; two brothers.
