Willard Christian Fredrich Kettner

January 20, 1921 — June 9, 2012

Willard Christian Fredrich Kettner was born on January 20, 1921 on the family farm in Westford Township, Martin County, MN to Ernest and Ella (Petersen) Kettner. He was baptized on February 6, 1921 and confirmed on April 14, 1935 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Truman, MN by Rev. Heinaman. Willard attended Truman Public School. On October 9, 1946 Willard was united in marriage to Madelyn Zoellmer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Heine conducting the services. They farmed in Westford Township until moving into Truman in 1988. Willard served as an Elder, Trustee, School Board member, Treasurer and served on the Board of Evangelism at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Truman where he was a lifelong member. Willard also served as the Director of Ridgelawn Memorial Park, board member of the Truman Coop Creamery and served on the Westford Township Board for 22 years. Willard especially loved his family and enjoyed fishing, photography and traveling. Willard died on Saturday evening, June 9, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his four daughters. Willard is survived by four daughters and their families, Priscilla Horsman and her husband Dana of Truman, MN, and their children, Melissa (Steve) Vander Veen, Jodi Horsman, Kevin Horsman, daughter, Cynthia Kettner of Rochester, MN, and her children, Matthew Lee (Elaine), Erik Lee (Kali), Allison Mohwinkel Lee, Heidi Keske, daughter, Karen Altenburg and her husband Michael W. of Lewisville, MN, and their children, Hillary Slama (Andrew), Michael E. Altenburg, daughter, Renee Kettner of Truman, MN; great grandchildren, Emilee and Anna Kate, William, Abigail and Delaney and Marcus, Nixon, Cody and Leeann. Willard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Madelyn; one sister, Arlene Bock and loved brothers-in-law and sister-law.
