Rick Joel Greiner

Ricky Joel Greiner was born May 21, 1952 to Ray and Doris (Benzel) Greiner in Fairmont, MN. He was baptized June 8, 1952 and confirmed May 22, 1966 at Zion Lutheran Church, Lewisville, MN. He attended Truman Public School, graduating in 1970. He attended Southwest State in Marshall, MN. He served in the Army National Guard. He was an FFA Star Farmer. He married Vickie Bower on February 14, 1987 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Truman. Rick and Vickie lived on the family farm in rural Antrim township until moving to Truman in 1998. He farmed with his dad, brother-in-law and friends for many years. He and Vickie owned and operated the Truman Tribune since 1987. He loved anything to do with softball. He coached various youth sports for many years. Rick enjoyed bowling, co-ed volleyball, watching sports, supporting his children, nieces and nephews, and grandchildren in their various school and church activities. His memberships and activities included: THS After Prom Party Committee, THS Academic Honors Committee, THS Athletic Boosters, Truman Baseball/Softball Association, Baseball diamond maintenance, Lewisville ball diamond updates, Truman Days Softball, Lewisville Legion member, Truman Downtown "Spruce Up? Committee. He played on Lewisville Bank Softball, M&M Softball, Rural Horizons Softball, and many others. Rick was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville and also regularly attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Truman. Rick died on Monday, March 12, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Fairmont. Rick is survived by his wife of 25 years, Vickie, Truman; sons and daughter, Brandon and Breanne Greiner, Derrick Greiner, Heather and Todd Earl, and Marcus and Alisa Eytcheson; sisters Joyce (Lowell) Boesch, Judy Bowman; grandchildren Brendan, Payton, and Jordyn Earl, Edwin Eytcheson; nieces and nephews Brittany (Daniel) Grunig, Logan Boesch, Jared Bowman, Jenna Bowman, Leslie (Aaron) Berg, Aaron Neitzke, Nikki (Neal) Meyer, Jonathon Neitzke, Jennifer Neitzke; sisters-in-law Cairne Eytcheson, Debbie (Dennis) Neitzke; godparent Lyle Greiner; and many great nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Doris Greiner, sister, Sharon, granddaughter Ainsley, and aunts and uncles.
