Burnetta Minnie Miller was born on January 11, 1920 in Waverly Township, Martin County, MN to Charles and Meta (Klinger) Miller. She was baptized on February 29, 1920 at Waverly Lutheran Church, rural Trimont, MN and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on April 15, 1934. Burnetta graduated from Truman High School in 1937. On February 29, 1940 Burnetta was united in marriage to Rollo Reckard at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Truman. They farmed west of Truman their entire lives. Burnetta decorated cakes for birthdays, weddings, family friends and the community. Rollo died in 1979. Burnetta moved off the farm in 1980, entered the Lutheran Manor in 2003 and entered the nursing home in 2008. Burnetta was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and many of its' activities. She was always the first one to volunteer when friends were in need and was named Martin County Volunteer of the Year. She loved to travel around the United States and travelled to Guatemala and Europe. Whatever Burnetta was doing, she always brought cookies. Burnetta died on Friday, February 03, 2012 at Truman Senior Living.
Burnetta is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Timm of Blaine, MN, Sylvia Huls (Darrel) of Apple Valley, MN; Juleen Anderson (Larry), of Franklin, TN; one son, Stephen Reckard (Carmen) of Truman, MN; eight grandchildren, Andrew Timm (special friend, Vicki), Dean Huls (Natalie), Kent Huls, Stephanie Anderson, Chad Reckard, Alicia Rihn (Justin); three brothers-in-law, Walt Sieg, Werner Glienke, Leonard Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Esther Glienke and Marilyn Johnson; one brother, Lester Miller; and one grandson, Karlin C. Timm.
