Erna Ottilia Borkenhagen

Erna Ottilia Wiederhoeft was born on May 2, 1918 in Antrim Township, Watonwan County, MN to August P. and Anna (Krenz) Wiederhoeft. She was baptized on May 18, 1918 and confirmed on March 20, 1932 at St. John's Lutheran Church-Antrim Township. Erna attended parochial school at St. John's Lutheran Church-Antrim. On May 7, 1939 Erna was united in marriage to Clarence Borkenhagen at St. John's Lutheran Church-Antrim. They lived and farmed in Pleasant Mound Township, Blue Earth County, MN. Clarence died on December 14, 1990. Erna continued living on the farm until November 2010. Erna was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church-Antrim and of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening. Erna died on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Truman Senior Living. Erna is survived by four daughters, Janice and Howard Shane of Sioux Falls, SD, Lynnette and Curt Swenson of Madelia, MN, Brenda Borkenhagen and Lois Borkenhagen both of Mankato, MN; 6 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 5 great, great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Arlene Greene of VA, Lillian Bode of Courtland, MN; one brother-in-law, Marvin and Dorothy Borkenhagen; and nieces and nephews. Erna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; and three step-brothers.
