Donald Lynn Dodge was born on the family farm in rural Truman, MN to Stanley E. and Agnes (Helvig) Dodge on August 27, 1924. Donald attended and graduated from Truman High School in 1942. In 1943 he was drafted into the US Army where he served as a medic in the Philippines on Leyte Island. Donald was honorably discharged and returned to the farm west of Truman in 1945. On September 17, 1949 Donald was united in marriage to Vivian Miller. She preceded him in death on April 15, 2007. Donald was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman. He was a member of the Oles-Reader-Bosshart American Legion Post 115 in Truman and was a charter member of the National World War II Museum in New Orleans. Donald was a member of the Interlaken Golf Club and was active with the Truman Historical Society. Donald and Vivian spent their winters in retirement in Mesa, AZ. Donald died on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Ingleside in Fairmont.
Donald is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Dianna Erickson and her husband David of Blaine, MN, Kathleen Zoeller and her husband, Stevan of Collierville, TN; one son, Thomas Dodge of Truman; 5 grandchildren, Johnathan Zoeller (Amy) of Houston, TX, Benjamin Zoeller (Megan) of Nashville, TN, Adam Erickson (Christine) of Chanhassen, MN, Sara Erickson-Edmundson (Brandon), Dallas, TX, Zachary Zoeller of Atlanta, GA; 5 great grandchildren, Owen, Jack and Alexander Zoeller, Alexa and Payton Erickson; one sister, Maxine Wade of Cambridge, MN and one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one brother-in-law, Richard Wade.
