Memorial services for Lyle Larsen, 75, Lyle Almer Larsen was born on May 31, 1936 in Roseau County, MN to Henry and Helen (Rasmussen) Larsen. He attended school at Wannaska, MN. As a young man, he entered the US Army. After his honorable discharge, he worked as an auto mechanic. Lyle went to work running road patrol for W. H. Hodgeman & Sons of Fairmont. In 1973, Lyle married Mary Knutson and they moved to Truman. In 1979, they went into business as a General Contractor. In 1998 he was diagnosed with AML Leukemia and in 2000 he received a stem cell transplant for the cancer. Lyle enjoyed many years of wintering in Arizona where he met many new friends. He had a talent for building miniature tractors that he built from scratch. He was known nationwide for this. Lyle could fix anything and loved to build and invent. Lyle died on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the VA Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Mary Larsen of Truman; three daughters, Cathy Stacey of Phoenix, AZ and her husband Joseph, Lynda Urban of Truman and her husband Ken, Theresa Hudson of Truman; three sons, Michael Lynch, Pequot Lakes, MN, John Larsen of Avoca, MN and his wife Marni, Lyle Larsen, Jr. of Wells, MN; 17 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; his mother, Helen Larsen of Roseau, MN; 2 brothers, Richard (Jeannie) of Roseau, MN and Ray (Marlys) of Modale, IA; one sister-in-law, Betty Larsen, Roseau, MN. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Delman and Harold.
