Mervin William Nibbe was born on July 29, 1940 in Madelia, MN to William "Bill? and Mabel (Kopischke) Nibbe. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church-Willow Creek. Mervin attended parochial school in Willow Creek and high school at Wellcome Memorial High School in Garden City, MN. Mervin was united in marriage to Karen Hengel on April 5, 1964 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amboy. Mervin was a member of the Local Union #49. As a 49'er, he was a skilled heavy equipment operator. As a hobby farmer, he raised cattle, sheep and horses. During the winter, he sheared sheep and cleaned barns. Mervin loved horses, hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed his time with his family. Mervin died on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Mayo Health Systems-Mankato, surrounded by family.
Mervin is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen Nibbe of Vernon Center; one daughter, Leslie Nibbe Johnson and her husband, Brent of Vernon Center; two sons, Dennis Nibbe and his wife Stacy of Good Thunder, Jason Nibbe and his girlfriend, Nikki Schendel of Vernon Center; two grandchildren, Morgan and Emily; one sister, Donna Mendenhall and her husband Al of Freeborn, MN; one brother, John Nibbe and his wife Pam of Lake Benton, MN and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, James Nibbe.
