Verona Lydia Tonn

Verona Lydia Arndt was born on July 13, 1928 on the family farm, rural Madelia, MN to Wilhelm and Elsie (Blume) Arndt. She was baptized on July 22, 1928 and she was confirmed in German on March 29, 1942, both at Trinity Lutheran Church-Fieldon. Verona attended parochial school at Trinity Lutheran School-Fieldon. After school, Verona worked at home and worked for area farm families doing cooking, cleaning and housework. On May 16, 1948 Verona was united in marriage to Clarence Tonn at Trinity Lutheran Church-Fieldon. They farmed in Blue Earth County until moving into Truman in 1970. Verona remained in Truman until her death. Verona was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church-Fieldon. She enjoyed reading, rubber stamping, quilting, plants and gardening, puzzles and games. Verona loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Verona died on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at Truman Senior Living in Truman. Verona is survived by three daughters, Gladys Cruz of Williamsburg, VA, Dorinda England and her husband Richard of Cherokee, IA, Lorinda Sanders of Truman, MN; 7 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; 1 sister, Gertrude Kassube of Truman, MN; 1 brother, Ervin Arndt and his wife Ann of Vernon Center, MN; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and many wonderful friends.. Verona was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Clarence Kassube; and a son-in-law Richie Sanders.
