Cecil Howard Kesselring was born in Bode, Iowa, to William and Esther (Berndt) Kesselring. The family moved to rural Granada, Minn., when Cecil was age 12. He attended Granada High School. On September 1, 1944, Cecil was united in marriage to Florence Crawford. He entered the U.S. Army on July 7, 1945, and served in the European Theatre. Cecil was honorably discharged on April 22, 1947, as a sergeant. Cecil was employed by Rosen Livestock for 43 years until retirement. He had resided in Fairmont, rural Granada and Northrop. The last six months he lived at Goldfinch in Fairmont. Cecil was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fairmont; a lifetime member of the Northrop American Legion and the Fairmont VFW. He served many offices in his local Post and 2nd District including 2nd District Commander in 1989 and 1990. Cecil died on Thursday, June 9, 2011, at his home in Fairmont.
Cecil is survived by one daughter, Barbara Landin and her husband Warren of Granada; sister, Joyce Anderson and husband Roger of Fairmont; sister-in-law, Carol and Rollin Joeckel of Fairmont; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters; infant brothers; and his longtime friend and wife.
