Marvella Wilhelmina Amelia Reckard

Marvella Wilhelmina Amelia Sieg was born on September 28, 1921 in South Branch Township, Watonwan County, MN to Ewald and Cecelia (Sodeman) Sieg. She was baptized on October 6, 1921 and confirmed on April 14, 1935 at St. John's Lutheran Church-South Branch. Marvella attended country school at Dist. 26 in Watonwan County and St. John's Lutheran School-South Branch. On October 22, 1944 Marvella was united in marriage to Earl Reckard at St. John's Lutheran Church-South Branch. They farmed near South Branch for 10 years. They moved to Fieldon Township and farmed there until retirement. Earl died in 2005. Marvella moved to Madelia in June of 2005. Marvella enjoyed gardening flowers, playing cards, cooking, collecting cookbooks, collecting salt and pepper shakers and doing crafts. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville. Marvella died on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia while surrounded by her family. Marvella is survived by one daughter, Erlyss Reckard, Waukon, IA; one son, Eldon Reckard and his wife Linda of Prior Lake, MN; five grandchildren, Shannon, Chad, Daniel, Cherie, Michael; sixteen great grandchildren; four great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Earl. Memorial contributions may be given to the Zion Lutheran Church-Lift Fund, Lewisville, MN.
