Bruce William Kietzer

January 20, 1951 — February 22, 2011

Bruce was born on January 20, 1951 to Willard and Lois (Schramm) Kietzer in Mankato, MN. He was baptized on February 11, 1951 and confirmed on April 11, 1965. Bruce attended St. John's Lutheran School in Willow Creek through the eighth grade and continued his education in Waseca at the Southern School of Agriculture. He entered the US Army Reserves after graduation. Bruce farmed for many years with his brother and father and worked at various hog facilities in the area. He was blessed with two daughters and enjoyed watching them in their activities. He kept stats for the LCWM girls' softball team for many years. Bruce also enjoyed supporting the MSU Mavericks during the hockey season. After being diagnosed with ALS, he became a resident of Hillcrest Home where he made many friends. Bruce always had the ability to make a joke and get you to smile, but his greatest love was for his daughters and family. Bruce died on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato surrounded by family, after a two year battle with ALS. Bruce is survived by two daughters, Amy Peterson (Carl), Mapleton, MN, Kari Smith (TJ), Yankton, SD; one sister, Sharon Herbst (David), Champlin, MN; two brothers, Leon Kietzer (Peg), Madison, SD, Myron Kietzer (Cathy), Vernon Center, MN; eight nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded by his parents, Willard and Lois Kietzer.
