Ruth Vogt

May 10, 1920 — December 18, 2009

Ruth, daughter of Arthur and Lydia Bonkoski, was born May 10, 1920, at home in St. James, Minnesota. She lived all her life in the St. James area. She was united in marriage to Harry F.L. Vogt on December 13, 1944. Their union was blessed with seven children, Ruth (Carmen) DeLuca, Tower, MN., Mary (Steve) Dobberstein, Shawano, WI, Joel Vogt (deceased), Janelle (Fred) Jost, Troy MO., Rebecca (Andy) Franz, Lake City, MN., Arden (Trudy) Vogt, Stacy, MN., and James (Melonie) Vogt, St. James, MN., 13 grandchildren and 15 great grand children. On Friday, December 18, 2009, Ruth died at Lakes Elder Care, Lindstrom, MN and was received into the loving arms of her Savior. Ruth Vogt was preceded in death by her husband Harry of 65 years, July 2, 2009 and one son, Joel, September 6, 1969. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Lydia Bonkoski and four brothers, Authur Jr., Robert, Lyle, and Gene. She is survived by sisters, Norma, Vera, Ardis, and JoAnne and one brother Lloyd. She is further survived by sisters and brothers in law and many nieces and nephews. Mom and Dad farmed in Watonwan County, Minnesota until their retirement when they moved to St. James. Mom was a charter member of the Primrose Garden Club and loved her garden and the flowers and food it produced. We miss her many wonderful meals that we shared as a family. We were blessed by Mom and Dad's hard work and loving care. Mom sewed everything from dresses to coats to living room drapes. Her special love was quilting and as each grandchild married they received a quilt made by both Mom and Dad; a treasure they will always have. Mom was active in Ladies Aid and LWML. Whenever there was food needed she was there! Mom and Dad, we love you and will miss you. We know that you are celebrating Christmas together and could not be in a better place sharing the happiness and living the fulfillment of the Promise of the Christmas season. Merry Christmas, Mom and Dad Memorial contributions may be given to Martin Luther High School or St. John's Lutheran Church-South Branch.
