The son of Herman and Bertha (Scheer) Vogt, Harry Vogt was born February 15, 1920 at home in Martin County, MN. His mother passed away when he was young and was loving raised by his father's second wife, Marie (Ehlert) Vogt.
At St. Paul's Lutheran Church in St. James, MN, on December 13, 1944, he married the former Ruth Bonkoski and to this union seven children were born.
Mr. Vogt is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ruth; four daughters, Ruth Ann (Carmen) DeLuca, Mary (Steve) Dobberstein, Janelle (Fred) Jost, Rebecca (Andrew) Franz; two sons, Arden (Trudy) Vogt, James (Melonie) Vogt; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hildegard (Merlin) Grev, Elfriede (Andrew) Anderson and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Harry was preceded in death by: his parents; one son, Joel Vogt in 1969; one infant great-granddaughter Anna; two sisters, Esther Quindel, Betty Wright and four brother, Emil Elmer, Martin and Lawrence Vogt.
Mr. Vogt is a life long resident of the St. James, Minn. He proudly served his country in the Army during WWII, being honorably discharge in September 1945. After retiring in 1986 from farming, he and Ruth moved to St. James. He was a member of the South Branch Lutheran Church where he was an Elder, president of the congregation and active in the men's club. He was a member of the VFW Post #561 and the American Legion in Lewisville. Harry enjoyed playing cards with his family, friends and neighbors, bowling and square dancing. He also volunteered his time delivering for Meals on Wheels. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by this family and friends. Harry passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Truman Senior Living in Truman, MN.
His grandsons will act as pallbears, Gaylen Nelson, Todd Dobberstein, Matthew Nelson, Frankie Cooper, Jacob Vogt and Darrin Vogt.
