Edwin Wayne Maloney

Edwin Wayne Maloney was born on October 9, 1921 in Estherville, IA to James A. and Rose June (West) Maloney. He attended country school. After school, Edwin helped his parent's farm until entering the US Army in 1942. Upon returning from WWII, Edwin married Doris Marie Nielsen in Fairmont on March 10, 1946. In March of 1947, they moved to the Truman area and farmed there until his retirement on April 15, 2009. Edwin loved farming and horses and especially spending time with his granddaughters. Every summer, Ed took his six granddaughters to the county fair. He enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Texas. Edwin was a member of the Community Baptist Church in Truman and the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and the Martin County VFW Post 1222 in Fairmont. Edwin died on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Doctor's Hospital at Renaissance, Edinburg, TX. Edwin is survived by one daughter, Janice Hartman and her husband Dennis of Okabena, MN; one son, Wayne Maloney and his wife Becky of Truman; six granddaughters, Ellen Pickhinke (Brian), Heather Maloney, Anne Garlock (Jim), Amy Maloney, Nicole Maloney, Lindsey Maloney; six great grandchildren; special friend, Crissy Rode, Truman; three sisters, Ruth Greier and her husband LeRoy of Lewisville, MN, Betty Williams and her husband Tyler of Dunnell, MN, Delores Wellman and her husband Dick of St. James, MN; three brothers, Ralph Maloney and his wife Sherri of Richland Center, WI, James Maloney and his wife Delilah of Lewisville, MN, Daryl Maloney and his wife Mary of Lewisville, MN; one sister-in-law, Beatrice Behrens and her husband Sylvan of Truman; and numerous nieces and nephews. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Doris; one brother, Ronald Maloney; one sister Marabelle Steuber. Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of your choice.
